I still think if this Ph.D thing falls through you've got a budding career as a nature photographer. And the best thing about nature - unlike children, when you take its picture, you don't have to bribe it, keep repositioning the camera because the tree moved, or wave a stuffed Elmo in front of it to get it to smile. :)

Well, trees do move sometimes. There's wind. It was actually rather windy the day I took these pictures, which was one reason I went to Ivy Creek; I wasn't sure how much longer there would be leaves.

But true, nature doesn't need to be wheedled like a two-year-old to cooperate.
